The
public areas have been designed with the disabled in mind and are all
easily accessible by wheelchair. There
are plenty of ramps (without steep gradients!!) allowing easy access to
the pool area and to the road etc. (Pool has a hoist to lower and elevate you whenever
you feel like a dip)
There
is also a lift to the upper levels of the apartments.
The village square is an easy 4 minute roll away and the beach
takes approximately 15 minutes. Both
routes are wheelchair friendly.
Airport transfers and excursions are also
available in mini vans
with roll up ramp.

3 bedroom Apartment
C
&
A Tourist
Apartments
have a three-bedroom
apartment which has been designed and adapted
specifically for use by the disabled.
The accommodation is situated on the upper floor and is accessible
by lift, the door of which is 80cm wide.
The lift itself is large enough to accommodate a wheelchair and
also one other person standing.
For
ease of manoeuverability the apartment is on one level and all doors are 85cm wide.
I have a 43cm wide seat on my wheelchair and it is very easy for me
to move around the apartment and negotiate all the doors without worrying
about being too close to the door frames.
The
kitchen door has now been widened to 110cm allowing good access for a
wheelchair. There is ample
space in the kitchen but, unfortunately, due to the fact that there are
cupboards underneath the worktops it is necessary to sit sideways whilst
using the worktop area. However,
the dining table offers plenty of legroom so ensures you are comfortable
whilst eating. The large lounge is equiped with TV and air-conditioning is
available (extra charge)
The roll in shower has plenty
of handles placed in convenient locations to allow one to use the toilet
and also transfer in and out of the bath.
The apartment is suitable for both manual or electric wheelchair users.

Hi,
My
name is Chris and I am the son of Eva, the owner of the C&A Tourist
Apartments in Polis, Paphos, Cyprus.
Due
to a genetic disorder I have been wheelchair bound for the last few years
so I am very aware of the many questions which require addressing prior to
undertaking a journey to an unknown destination.
I would like to take this opportunity of
introducing myself to you and explaining some of the features that have
been incorporated into the C&A Tourist Apartments to assist the
disabled traveller.
We have used many of my
own experiences as a disabled traveller as the basis for adapting the
apartments and ensuring that the facilities available are adequate to meet
the needs of differing degrees of disabilities.

Studios no 2, no 3
and no 4

These large spacious studios
have been designed to
accommodate the disabled traveller. These studios, like the three-bedroom apartment, has been
adapted to ensure comfort and manoeuvrability for anyone in a
wheelchair.
The
studios features a roll-in shower together with a swivel shower chair.
Grab rails have also been placed in the shower area as well as an
aid for the toilet.
These three studios have
much larger bathroom areas than the smaller studios no 7 &
no 8, so they are more suitable for wheelchair
users who are less agile than others, meaning you would find it easier
if you needed a hoist for example or if you are using an electric
wheelchair.
The
door into the shower room has been widened to 98 cm.
Studio no 2, no 3 and no 4 have a
sheltered garden patio whereas studio no 7 and no 8
are pool facing.
Both
studio and the apartment are pool facing.

The studios feature roll-in showers together with swivel shower

well as drop down rails on either side of the toilets. The doors
into the shower rooms has been widened to 110 cm.
These 2

meaning you would find it a little bit difficult if you needed a
hoist for example or if you are using an electric wheelchair. So
when making a booking tell us which studio would suit you better.
