NICOSIA - LEFKARA

MONDAY AND THURSDAY
An opportunity
to visit Nicosia, the Capital of Cyprus. First stop is the Handicraft Centre.
Then we
drive by the Venetian Walls, the Famagusta Gate and the statue of liberty
to visit the Cathedral of St. John and its frescoes. After that you will
have the opportunity to visit the Archaeological Museum with its priceless
collection od Cypriot antiquities and art treasures or exploring the shopping
centre of the city. Ample time will be given for lunch in “ Laiki Yitonia
“,
a recently
restored 19th century quarter of the city with
tavernas
and shops.
Driving
out along the Green Line which divides the city in two,
we will
then continue to the picturesque village of Lefkara famous for its handmade
lace and silverware.

TUESDAY AND SATURDAY
Discover the “ Green Heart “ of Cyprus, its picturesque
villages, valleys and evergreen forests. Our first stop will be Platres
a very famous mountain resorts. Then passing by the highest point, Mount
Olympus, we will visit the Tomb of Archbishop and President Makarios 111
and the Kykko Monastery, the most famous and wealthiest monastery on the
island founded in 1092. After lunch at Pedhoulas village we will return
to Pafos with a coffee break at Trimiklini village.

THURSDAY
Driving eastwards from Pafos along the most beautiful
coastline, passing by the birthplace of Aphrodite the goddess of Beauty
and Love, we visit the ancient City of Curium. We see there the House of
Eustolius with its frescoes and the Theatre. We then visit the medieval
castle of Kolossi.
Continuing through the Phasouri plantation we
arrive in Limassol at one of the largest Wineries where you can see how
the wine is produced and also taste some of the best wines. There will
be time for shopping and lunch. On the way back we will stop at the birthplace
of Aphrodite for a drink.

FRIDAY
A leisurely drive to the Baths of Aphrodite the
Goddess of Beauty and Love. Our day begins with a visit to St. Neophytos
Monastery with the 12th century frescoes. We continue to Panayia village
where you have the opportunity to see one of the oldest monasteries of
Chrysoroyiatissa. Afterwards, we have a coffee break at Polis village,
we arrive at the Baths of Aphrodite an idyllic spot where according to
legend swimming in these waters will give you eternal youth. Ample time
is given for swimming and sunbathing in the fishing village of Latsi.

Let us show you the true heart of Cyprus by visiting
these typical mountain villages. We begin with Omodos one of the wine villages
with its monastery of the Holy Cross and its lovely white-colored
Houses. After a short stop at Troodos square,
we visit the Byzantine churches of Archangel Michael and the Virgin Mary
at Galata. We stop for lunch at Kakopetria village where you can also walk
in the old part of the village and explore its folk architecture. Our last
visit will be at Lania, a picturesque village built and maintained to this
day in traditional character.

The idea was borne from the desire of people who
